In her own words…

quotes  Your current circumstances do not determine where you go, but rather, where you start.

Reaching out for help can be an intimidating step to take towards a journey of healing. You are brave to be taking this step! The strength you need to thrive in this beautiful life already lies within you. When we meet, I will help you see your own strength and provide you with support and a safe space to work toward the change you want. No matter where your life has taken you, you are capable of growth and change. You do not have to do this alone!

I am passionate about working with all walks of life. I am LGBTQ-affirming and interested in working with anyone who feels marginalized, unheard, or forgotten. I enjoy working with college students and young professionals, as well as seasoned adults.

About MaKayla

MaKayla earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Troy University and her Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Alabama. She has invested herself in professionally helping families struggling with poverty, socioeconomic challenges, relational issues, and crime. She has worked alongside patients and their families facing terminal illness, death, and loss. She has also served those struggling with mental wellness in a hospital setting. Today she brings her compassion and experience to her clients at Perspective Counseling.

MaKayla is a true Opelika/Auburn native. Her free time is filled with the busy life of parenting and kids’ sports, Alabama football, or trying new “sweet treat” recipes in the kitchen. Makayla is not currently working with expectant mothers or those with infants, but she welcomes mothers with toddler-aged children and older.
